In short
On the website we count visits without cookies. If you accept cookies, PostHog also records how you use the site, so we can improve it. No ad trackers, and we never sell your data. To buy, you pay with Stripe, and we never see your full card number. In the Mac app you sign in with an account. Your typing and dictation are read on your Mac. When you run a test, your trade is sent to an AI service to research it. Your saved tests are kept on your account so they show up on your other Macs.
Who we are
Blindspot is made by Blindspot Desk, a small independent research desk. It is an independent project, not a registered company. Blindspot Desk decides what is collected and how it is used. For anything on this page, write to hello@blindspotdesk.com.
The waitlist
If you join the waitlist, we keep your email, request reference and submission date in Convex. Earlier entries may also hold the market and trading role you chose. We use them to manage the list and contact you about the opening. Joining takes no payment and reserves no founding number. We may use Resend to notify the team of your request. Ask us to remove your entry at hello@blindspotdesk.com.
Your account and payment
When you buy a plan and sign in to the Mac app, we keep:
- your email address and name, from the sign-in (email code, Google or GitHub);
- your plan: which one, the dates of the paid period, and whether it renews or ends;
- a Stripe customer number, so we can match your payments to your account;
- if you pay on the website before you have an account, the email you paid with and your founding number, held until you sign in with that email. We check the email with Clerk, so only a verified address can claim the plan;
- a count of the tests you run and when, so we can apply your plan's limits. Only the length of your trade is counted here, not the words.
You pay on our website through Stripe Checkout. Stripe takes your card details. We never see or store your full card number. We use your details to run your account, to let you in, to take payment, to reply to you, and to meet tax and accounting rules. We never sell them and we don't send marketing emails.
Your trades and saved tests
Each test you save is kept on your account: the text of your trade, the result, and when you made it. We do this so your tests show up on every Mac you sign in on. Only you can see them. If you delete a test in the app, it is removed from your other Macs too.
Founding 100 and the direct line
If you are one of the first 100 buyers of Desk, paid yearly, we also keep your founding number and a nickname you pick. The nickname is shown next to your number in the app. Don't use your real name or your email.
The direct line is a private chat with the team inside the app. We keep what you send there: your messages, any images you add (up to 5 MB each), and the replies. Only you and the team can read the chat. Your messages and images are forwarded to the team on Telegram, and the team's replies come back the same way. Your nickname and number go along with what you wrote. Don't put anything in the chat you would not want the team to see.
Where it is kept, and who handles it
A few services handle this data for us. None of them may use it for their own purposes.
| Service | What it does |
|---|---|
| Stripe | Takes your payment and keeps your card details. Sends us your plan status, never your full card number. Runs the page where you cancel. |
| Convex | Our database: your account, plan, saved tests and direct-line messages. |
| Clerk | Signs you in to the Mac app with email, Google or GitHub. |
| PostHog (EU) | Counts visits without cookies. If you accept cookies, also measures how the site is used and records sessions. Hosted in the EU. |
| Cloudflare | Hosts the website and the Mac app download, protects them from abuse, and forwards mail sent to our address to our inbox. |
| Telegram | Carries direct-line messages and images between the app and the team. |
| Google (Gmail) | Our inbox, where your emails to us arrive. |
| An AI service | Reads your trade when you run a test, and researches it with web search. See “The Mac app” below. |
Some of these services are based in the United States, so your data may be processed outside your country.
Visits to the website
We count page views and a few milestones (for example, “the plans were seen”) as daily totals. We store the totals only: no IP address, no identifier, no device details.
PostHog without cookies
Unless you accept cookies, we use PostHog, an analytics service hosted in the EU, to count visits without cookies. Nothing is stored in your browser except your cookie choice, if you make one. PostHog records the pages you view, the milestones above, your browser and device type, and the site that sent you here. To tell one visit from another, it turns your IP address and browser into an anonymous code on its servers, using a secret that changes every day. The IP address itself is not kept, and it isn't used to work out your location. The code can't follow you from one day to the next, and there are no session recordings.
PostHog with cookies, only if you accept
On your first visit, a banner asks whether we may use cookies. If you accept, PostHog does more, to help us understand how people use the site. It sets a cookie with a random identifier, so it can tell one visit from the next.
PostHog records:
- the pages you view and the links and buttons you click;
- recordings of your session: how the page moved and where you clicked, with anything you type hidden;
- your browser, device type, screen size and rough location (country and city), which PostHog works out from your IP address;
- the site that sent you here, and which plan buttons you press.
We use this only to improve the site, and only because you agreed to it. PostHog keeps session recordings for up to 30 days and the rest for up to one year. If you decline or don't answer, PostHog sets no cookie and only counts your visit as described above. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, we don't load PostHog or count you at all.
Like any website, the servers see your IP address when you connect. Cloudflare processes it to deliver the site and block abuse. We don't store it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account, your saved tests and your direct-line chat for as long as your account exists. Ask us at hello@blindspotdesk.com and we delete your account and what is on it, usually within a few days and always within 30. Stripe keeps payment and invoice records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, and we may have to keep those too. Emails you send us stay in our inbox until we delete them. If you asked for access to Blindspot before it launched, we keep that email address until you ask us to delete it.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to hello@blindspotdesk.com from the address you signed up with. If you are in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
The Mac app
The Mac app sends us no usage data or analytics. It talks to our servers to sign you in, check your plan and sync your saved tests.
Stays on your Mac
- The reading as you type, and the dictation. The reading runs on Blindspot Lens, which works offline once it is downloaded. Dictation uses Apple's on-device speech recognition, built into macOS 26, so your speech stays on the Mac.
- The key to your AI account, in the macOS Keychain, if you use your own.
- Your sign-in, in the macOS Keychain.
Sent to an AI service when you run a test
When you run a test, and only then, the text of your trade is sent to an AI service, so it can research the trade and write the case file. It may run web searches as part of that. The founding build runs no tests until the public launch. When tests open, they run with the key to your own AI account, so that service's own privacy terms apply to what you send. If we later run tests through our own servers instead, we will update this page first. If you'd rather a trade never left your Mac, don't run a test on it.
Downloads
On first launch the app downloads its on-device model, Blindspot Lens (about 362 MB), from a public model host. To give invalidation real dates, it also fetches public economic calendars (this week's releases, US data release dates and central bank meeting dates). These requests don't include your trade.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update it here and change the date at the top. If the change matters for data we already hold, we'll email the people it affects.
